A day out in New York

On Saturday, Chris and I spent the day out in the city. We found one of those fun little street markets where they shut down the street for the day and all these vendors set up booths. I love those things! Chris and I each got a pair of sunglasses for $20 total. I got one of those cute skirts that you can tie and wear in about 50 different ways as a top or a dress or a sarong and so on. Good stuff.

After that we headed over to Washington Square Park.

We saw the sand art guy again! It was like finding Waldo in the big city! hahaWe watched an acapella group perform.

We went to Puerto Rico Importing, Co. and picked up some imported coffee from New Guinea for my parents. This store smelled sooooo good!Chris took me to Jekyll and Hyde, this really fun themed restaurant. The props on the wall talked and sang songs and there was a funny "Dr. Brayne" character walking around making jokes. He said he'd come perform at our wedding. haha

That night, Chris and I headed over to Lincoln Center to see South Pacific.
On the way back, we saw Michael Jackson. We took this picture for Marena. haha
We ended the night talking about the summer we met in NYC over a couple of drinks at Live Bait, a fun bar that Chris knew about near the hotel.

The proposal

After the museum, Chris surprised me by taking me to The View, a revolving restaurant with views of the whole city. Amazing.

After the restaurant, he took me to Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center, where he proposed on the roof of the building. I'm the luckiest girl in the world.

Museum

Friday we got up and headed to the American Museum of Natural History, one of my favorite museums.
Chris was posing by a fish tank and all of a sudden this giant whale swam by with a giant squid in its mouth! OMG! haha Ok, not really. It's fake ...

All the earthquakes that happened that day alone! Poor California!

The Rose Center for Earth and Space.
This guy made sand art designs on the sidewalk when we were walking by. Pretty cool.

Central Park

Thursday, Chris and I went right to Central Park to enjoy one of our favorite parts of NYC.

At the end of the day, Chris surprised me with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the park. So sweet!

Chris and I are engaged!!!!

Chris took me to NYC for a 4-day weekend and he proposed at Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center. He faked me out a couple of times by taking me on a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park and to this really fancy, revolving restaurant called The View and obviously not proposing at either really romantic attraction. So that definitely built up the suspense.

Anyway, we're both super happy and excited and had a wonderful weekend. I'll post pictures of our weekend soon.

Birthday presents

So I don't know who enjoyed themselves more: me opening my birthday presents from my parents or the kitties playing with the wrapping paper afterward. Basically, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My mom picked out some really wonderful presents for me and made me this really adorable apron. And the kitties got to attack each other behind the cover of the wrapping paper and bubble wrap. I also had fun taking pictures of them. So enjoy this little story in pictures.
